Gratitude: The Key to Boosting Your Confidence and Ultimate Success in Insurance Sales

In my experience, the challenge isn’t having gratitude, but maintaining it. When I take the time to reflect on my career and personal life and practice gratitude for what I already have, I get more enthusiastic and my confidence skyrockets. This boost in confidence naturally leads to increased success.

Conversely, when my gratitude falters and I neglect to appreciate what I have, my confidence plummets and my performance suffers. This cycle taught me two essential lessons. First, I am in charge of my gratitude. Second, my gratitude is influenced by the people I surround myself with.

Surrounding Yourself with Positivity

For this reason, I’m careful about who I spend my time with. When I spend time with negative people, those lacking gratitude, I tend to spiral into a similar mindset and it doesn’t take long for that to reflect in my performance and my personal life. Conversely, spending time with positive, grateful individuals can lift your spirits and improve your performance.

Growing up, I was fortunate to have a supportive family who were my biggest cheerleaders and first life coaches. Their influence was pivotal in shaping my outlook and gratitude. However, it wasn't until I ventured outside the comfort of my family that I realized not everyone was fortunate enough to live in such a nurturing environment. This realization made me appreciate my upbringing even more and solidified my belief in the power of gratitude.

The Impact of Gratitude on Your Career

There was a period of time when I felt like my back was against the wall and it seemed like no matter how hard I worked, I couldn’t break through the glass ceiling. So I decided to change my approach and started each day by listing three things I was grateful for. That simple shift in focus not only shifted my mindset from what was going wrong, but also helped me realize what was going right and what I wanted to continue doing. It also led to better interactions with not only my family and friends but also my clients and colleagues which ultimately resulted in stronger relationships and increased sales.

One thing I’m most grateful for today is my family. I found a better way to quadruple my book of business in less time and didn’t miss the moments with them that matter the most. I feel so grateful that the appointment that my daughter, Kelley, asked me for at the park when she was 5 has come full circle and she is now a partner in ELEVATION180 alongside me. Implementing Gratitude in Your Daily Routine

Give these practices a try for just one week and you’ll begin to feel and see the difference.

- Start Your Day with Gratitude: Begin each day by listing at least three things you are grateful for. On days when you feel like you don’t have three, think hard. I promised even the smallest of wins can make a difference.

- Thank Your Clients and Colleagues: Regularly express appreciation for the people around you. Genuine heartfelt gestures like handwritten thank you notes can go a long way.

- Mindfulness Practices: Incorporate mindfulness practices like meditation or deep breathing to center yourself and adjust your mindset.

Understanding and practicing gratitude can have a profound impact on both your personal and professional life. By adopting a grateful and abundant mindset, you can boost your confidence and achieve greater success.
