Culture: The Foundation of Any Team

In Daniel Coyle's book Culture Code, he says three things have to be present in order to have a strong culture: psychological safety, human connection, and shared vision.

When team members feel safe to voice opinions, ask questions, and challenge the status quo without fear of retaliation or judgment, innovation flourishes. Just because something has always been done a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the best way to do it. A strong culture makes space to evaluate and refine processes to achieve the best results.

2. Human Connection: Treating People Like People

Culture isn’t just about structure; it’s about people. Strong cultures treat individuals as humans first, not just roles behind a screen. A simple gesture like saying “good morning” can set the tone for connection. The way we communicate in person should mirror how we engage online—emphasizing respect and real engagement rather than impersonal or dismissive interactions.

3. Shared Vision: Built Together, Not Dictated
