From Appointment Requests to a Bigger Future: Kelley’s Journey with ELEVATION180

Last week, Jerry reflected on the past 15 years of growth, impact, and helping clients build a bigger future at ELEVATION180. His words reminded me of how this incredible journey started—one that I remember as if it were yesterday.

Dreaming of a Bigger Future

I’ve always been ambitious, even as a little girl. One of my earliest memories is from when I was five years old. I asked my dad, Jerry, for an “appointment” to take me to the park, and I asked him why he didn’t love me. That wouldn’t be the last time I requested an appointment either—I was a tenacious kid, and big dreams were always on my mind. My parents instilled in me a belief that if I worked hard enough, I could accomplish anything I set my mind to.

That belief led me to my second “appointment” with my dad in the fifth grade. This time, I was laser-focused on my Bigger Future—I wanted to attend a private Catholic university. I put together a presentation, complete with my goals and dream schools. My big ask: “If I do the work to get accepted to a university of my choice, will you do the work and pay for it?” I still remember the look on his face—a mix of pride and amusement. He glanced over at my mom, likely thinking, “What have I gotten myself into this time?” But he agreed, and we shook on it. I went to work on my grades, and he went to work on saving.

A Leap of Faith: Building ELEVATION180

Fast forward to 2009. I was a senior in high school, and it was my dad’s turn to ask for an appointment. He gathered our family together—my mom, my brother, and me—and told us he was leaving the family-owned insurance agency to start something new. He was going out on his own to coach others on how to grow their businesses so they could have Greater Freedom, just like he had. Selfishly, my first question was, “Does this mean you can still hold up your end of the deal?” He smiled again, that same big grin, and said, “Of course! You gave me plenty of warning.”

Coming Full Circle: Partnering for Greater Freedom

So, off I went to the University of San Diego to pursue my Bigger Future, while my dad built ELEVATION180, helping others do the same. I couldn’t be more proud of him for taking that leap, creating a company that has changed so many lives.

And now, we’ve come full circle. The first appointment has led me here, where I’m proud to say that I’m now a partner at ELEVATION180. I’m more excited than ever to continue the work my dad started—to help people achieve Greater Freedom, Lifelong Sustainable Results, and a Bigger Future.
